ProEx™ C - a new molecular biomarker assay
ProEx™ C is a new biomarker assay to identify cervical cancer. It has been
developed by TriPath Imaging,
Inc and uses the fact that specific proteins are expressed when cervical
cancer is present. These proteins may be identified and quantified using a cocktail
of highly specific molecular biomarkers.
Unlike HPV tests, this diagnostic test is specific for cervical cancer disease (CIN2+)
and can be used as a reflex test on low grade SurePath® LBC cytology samples. A
number of trials have been reported and more are underway. UK Trials have commenced.
