remote pathology consultant services
Medical Solutions™ diagnostic pathology provides comprehensive support services to
laboratories in order to cover short and long-term pathology resource gaps and can
provide specialist cancer histopathology expertise, including primary diagnosis
and second opinion services. We have an extensive team of consultants available
for reporting routine and specialised cases when your own laboratory resource is
insufficient to cope with the increasing demands on cellular pathology departments.
Many of our consultants have nationally and internationally recognised reputations
in their specialty.
For example, we have a team of experienced consultants in the prostate field who
are available to support generalist consultants in this particularly sensitive area
of cancer diagnosis. All prostate cases are referred to a specialist as a matter
of routine.
When appropriate (e.g. RCPath guidelines dictate), double reporting is undertaken
giving our clients the utmost confidence in our reports.
The service is a reliable and cost effective method for short-term cover, for example
vacations and absences due to staff sickness. Long-term comprehensive cover is also
provided as a partnership with permanent staff, drawing from the expertise of over
60 of the country's leading Pathologists. The long-term support approach provides
a relief resource for time critical backlogs and for extended problems with recruitment
and retention of staff.
Medical Solutions™ diagnostic pathology uses a secure medical courier and tracking
process to provide a timely, cost effective and safe support service to clients
and their patients. Pre-prepared slides are collected by courier and delivered next
day to the company's facilities in Nottingham. Here they are logged and distributed
to a consultant who is ready to report the case and email it back to the company's
administrative hub using a state-of-the-art reporting service. Reports are then
available electronically on our
SPA (Secure Portal Access) within 7 working days or they can be faxed or
posted to the originating laboratory.
We are able to provide second opinion and Duty of Care services when required. These
are conducted with the utmost confidentiality and diplomacy. All reviews are carried
out in accordance with GMC and RCPath guidelines. This aspect of our business provides
confidence in diagnosis and channels knowledge in to other pathology centres adding
to the skill base and improving awareness of uncommon cases.
